CRANBERRY, Pa. (EYT) – Thirteen years ago Calvin and Paula Bickel decided to take control of their health by altering their diet and adopting a vegan approach to nutrition.

And, so began their journey, but they soon encountered a significant roadblock; there was nowhere in the area to purchase natural, organic, or vegan foods and products. In 2000, they decided to take it upon themselves to create a place where everyone in the community would have access to these foods.

In May of 2000, they opened God’s Little Garden in downtown Oil City, Pennsylvania.

By the time they opened the store, Calvin had lost 40 pounds and was no longer experiencing the arthritic pain he had felt before.

Over the years, expansion and growth of God’s Little Garden have required a couple of relocations of their business. Currently, they have settled into their new home in the Cranberry Mall.

This week, the store is celebrating thirteen years in business with an Anniversary Party on May 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

There will be food, drinks, and a drawing for prizes, as well as, a 20% discount all week on God’s Little Garden purchases (excluding cases, special orders, markdowns, and sales).

Included in the prizes will be a gift basket of GLG merchandise, a $25.00 God’s Little Garden gift certificate, and two Super Shopper Cards (valued at $10.00 each).
