GoFundMe Campaign Seeks Donations for Local Car Accident Victim

VENANGO CO., Pa. – A GoFundMe page has been set up for a local woman who suffered severe injuries following a car accident in Franklin on July 16.

Eighteen-year-old Brianna Kope sustained serious injuries from a car accident that occurred on Lamberton Road in Franklin on July 16. After swerving to miss a vehicle on her side of the street, Kope’s vehicle went into a bank on the left side of the road. She was ejected out of the driver’s side window.

Kope’s boyfriend, Shaun Alter, age 18, flew out of the sunroof on the last roll when the car came to a stop. His injuries include three broken ribs and a concussion.

Kope was conscious and alert after the accident, and she was life flighted to UPMC Hamot in Erie.

Once at the hospital, Kope was determined to be in critical condition, and doctors discovered a Grade V laceration on her liver, among other bodily injuries.

Kope has undergone two surgeries on her liver. As of July 19, she was moved from ICU and into a recovery room.

Kope is now able to talk, but she will be watched over closely and will require physical therapy once she is released from the hospital.
