Gordon GoodmanGordon Russell Goodman, 81, of Rt 157 Oil City, died at 9:47 am, Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness.

Gordy had resided at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation for the past five years.

Born January 1, 1936 in the Oil City Hospital, he was a son of the late Russell C. and Lucille Lineman Goodman.

Gordy graduated in 1955 from Cranberry High School.

He served in the US Army from 1959 to 1961.

Gordy was a semi-truck driver most of his adult life.

He loved big rigs and traveling the USA.

In his spare time, he would tinker in his garage with anything that had wheels and motors.

In his earlier years, he enjoyed snowmobiling in the winter with his friends from Marienville, and enjoyed fishing with his mother, sisters and brothers-in-law on his pontoon boat in the summer. He loved owning and operating his backhoes, tractors, trucks and anything that made noise.

Surviving are three sisters, Nancy Miller of Seneca, Norene Silvis of Cranberry and Vonda (Tyke) Hartman of Midlothian VA; one sister-in-law, Judy Goodman Hovis and husband Sam of Oil City; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Zimmerman of Seneca and Doug Hartman of Midlothian VA; and numerous niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Jacob E. Goodman; one sister, Bette Zimmerman; two brothers-in-law, Jack Miler and Dale Silvis; and one niece, Amy Jo Miller Perry.

Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service at eh Seneca United Methodist Church, on East State Road, on Monday at 11 am, with the Rev. William Hasting, officiating.

The Morrison Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Venango County Humane Society, or to the Seneca Volunteer Fire Department.
