Grove City Shuts Out Franklin in D10 Semifinals

SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. (EYT) – Lizzie Malczak threw a three-hit shutout to lead Grove City to a 6-0 win over Franklin in the District 10 Class 4A softball semifinals Thursday at Slippery Rock University.

Malczak walked two batters and hit a batter while striking out 10.

The Grove City hurler helped herself in the first inning with a two-run single that put the Eagles ahead 2-0, and the lead grew to 3-0 on a Brooke Shingledecker base hit.

The Eagles scored three more times in the fourth to get some breathing room with Camryn Billig delivering a two-run single.

Billig was 3-for-3 with the two RBIs and a run scored, while Morgan Shingledecker scored twice.

Gracie Stryffeler took the loss going six innings allowing six runs, three earned, on nine hits and two walks while striking out 11.

ChristaRose Hawke had two of the Knights three hits going 2-for-3.

Franklin ends the season 11-9.
