Harold Glenn Burke went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 1, 2017 due to an auto accident.

He was born November 8, 1931, the second child of the late Paul A. and Minnie C. Dally Burke.

He attended the one room Rockdale School and graduated from the class of 1950 of Emlenton High School where he had played football.

Harold served in the United States Air Force in Korea during the Korean Conflict.

He married Joanne M. Burnside on June 15, 1957 at the United Methodist Church in Tidioute. They resided on a farm outside Tidioute until 1962. He was also employed at Cooper Bessemer in Grove City.

Harold owned and operated a state inspection garage of Burke’s Auto Body.

He enjoyed restoring antique cars and trucks and was especially fond of taking his 1957 Dodge sweepside pickup to various car shows.

Harold was a highly-respected carpenter and building contractor.

Always a hard worker and willing to lend a helping hand.

He and Joanne enjoyed the two homes he built; a ranch style and log home.

He was also employed as a sub-contractor for Howard Fisher Representative Ridge Homes.

He was an active lifelong member of the East Unity United Presbyterian Church, where he served as president of EUP cemetery and was an active elder.

Harold and Joanne were actively involved with World Gospel Missions Men with Vision. They participated in numerous work missions throughout the US, Paraguay, Honduras and Mexico. They dedicated hundreds of hours of volunteer service to the Kentucky Mountain Bible College and also New Life International in Indiana.

Harold is survived by his wife Joanne; daughters, Gina (Richard) Traister of Fletcher, N.C., Janet L. (Doug) Elder of Emlenton, Jill A. (Randall) Austin of Emlenton and Son, Harold G. Jr (Ron Walcott) of Boardman, OH.; 12 Grandchildren and 9 Great-grandchildren; sister-in-laws, Mary Burke and Shirley Burke, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by his sons, Bryan and Daniel Burke; brothers, Floyd, Samuel and Paul Burke as well as his sister, Margaret “Peg” Rankin.
