Harold J. Andrus, 88, of 402 Cherry Street, Kane, died Friday evening, November 23, 2018, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, where he was a recent resident.

Born February 28, 1930, in Daguscahonda, he was the son of Lewis H. and Agnes M. Haines Andrus. On August 19, 1950, in Falconer, N.Y., he married Imogene L. Lewis, who died in 1998. In 2003, he married Gertie Mohney Walton, who died in 2006.

Harold was a veteran of the Korean War, having been discharged as a corporal with five bronze stars.

He owned Andrus & Son Contracting in Kane and Johnsonburg and worked at Motion Control in Ridgway for twenty years.

A member of the First Church of God in Kane, he was a greeter, an elder and served on both the Bereavement and Hospital Committees. He belonged to the Kane Senior Center, was a volunteer driver for the American Cancer Society, and, years ago, he belonged to the Wilcox American Legion.

Surviving are two sons, Harold E. (Linda) Andrus of Englewood, Ohio and Lewis (Zelda) Andrus of Kane; two daughters, Pamela (Thomas) Cannon of Kane and Star Andrus of Bradford; and a brother William “Bill” Andrus of Indianapolis, Ind. Six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren also survive.

Preceding him in death, besides his parents and wives, are three bothers, three sisters and a daughter in infancy.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Ronald McDonald II Funeral Home, Inc., where a service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday with his son, the rev. Harold E. Andrus, Assemblies of God pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery following cremation.
