ELK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A motorcyclist who was seriously injured yesterday in an accident on State Route 322 passed away late Wednesday afternoon at a Pittsburgh hospital.

According to Clarion-based State Police, around 3:45 p.m. on October 6, 31-year-old Shawn M. Green, of Harrisville, was traveling east on Route 322 on a 1982 Yamaha Maxim 650. For an unknown reason, he was looking toward the rear of his motorcycle and allowed it to drift onto the south berm.

The undercarriage of the motorcycle impacted a grass embankment, causing it to tip onto its right side. The motorcycle slid on its right side and came to a rest on top of Green, police say.

The motorcycle covered approximately 106 feet from the point it left the roadway to its final resting point, according to police.

Police say Shippenville Ambulance transported Green to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment of major injuries.

Shawn’s mother Renee told exploreClarion.com that her son passed away at 4:08 p.m. today and will be helping save at least 6 lives because of organ and tissue donation.
