IRWIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) — Police have filed charges against a Harrisville man following an alleged assault in Irwin Township, Venango County.

According to a criminal complaint, Jason Earl Vogan, 41, of Harrisville, allegedly assaulted a female victim around 12:30 a.m. on July 2 along Clintonville Road in Irwin Township.

The complaint states Franklin-based State Police were dispatched to a residence and interviewed the victim, who was standing in the yard.

The victim said “she came home from a friend’s residence around midnight and Vogan allegedly began to yell at her and smash things in the house,” the complaint continues.

Vogan then punched the victim “right in the face” with what she believes “was a closed fist, then punched her a second time in the left knee” where she had previously had surgery, the complaint indicates.

The victim said Vogan may have taken “a bunch of…Trezadon medicine,” which she said may be the reason he was acting this way, according to a complaint.

Police say the victim called her mother, who was planning to take her to the emergency room, the complaint states.

Police observed the victim had a swollen nose, blood on her face and t-shirt, and complained of pain the nose and left knee areas, the complaint indicates.

Online court documents indicate Vogan faces the following charges at District Court 28-03-04 in Seneca:

  • Simple Assault, Second-degree Misdemeanor
  • Two counts of Harassment, a summary offense

Court documents indicate Vogan had a preliminary arraignment at 3:35 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Patrick E. Lowrey, where he was placed in the Venango County Jail in lieu of $20,000.00 cash bail.

The bail amount was later increased to $100,000.00 cash bail, with the reason stated in court documents as: “Mr. Vogan stated that he would commit acts of violence against everyone involved in this case.”

Unable to post bail, Vogan remains in the Venango County Jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on July 8 in Venango County Central Court Venango County Central Court.
