Harry L. Litten

522118_894802787237917_2680210728033959545_nHarry L. Litten, age 80, of Endeavor, PA, died on Thursday, December 18, 2014 at his home in Endeavor.

He was born May 6, 1934 in Waynesburg, PA, son of the late Harry L. and Maxine (Huntley) Litten Sr. Harry attended Waynesburg College in Waynesburg, PA where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry. He retired from the Harshaw Chemical Co. in Cleveland, Ohio and Gloucester City, New Jersey where he worked as a plant manager.

He was an active member in the community serving with the Tionesta Lions Club where he was a past King Lion and recently received the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. He was also a board member of the Forest County Industrial Development Corporation and the Industrial Development Authority, and he served on the Sarah Stewart Bovard Memorial Library Board of Directors. He, with others, started the Friends of the Tionesta Public Library where he was currently serving on the Board. He was a member of the Forest Area Arts Council, Forest County Historical Society, and was instrumental in planning and organizing the Tionesta Borough Sesquicentennial year-long festivities. He worked with the Tionesta Second Harvest Food Bank, and was a member of the Rotary Club in Cleveland and the Kiwanis in both New Jersey and Cleveland. He was a veteran of the US Army.

On March of 1957 he married Marthann (Whiting) Litten who died February 11, 1986. On May 20, 1996, he married Barbara C. (Thirlkel) Litten who survives.

In addition to his wife Barbara, Harry is survived by 2 daughters, Debbie D. Gustin of Reisterstown, MD and Judy A. Hindenach and her husband Larry of Marriottsville, MD, 4 grandchildren, Robert, Chip, Brad and Katie, 2 great-grandchildren, Madison and Bradley, and a brother, Jack H. Litten and his wife Kathy of Streetsboro, OH, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his first wife, Harry was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Skiles and his beloved dog Claire.

Friends will be received on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Norman J. Wimer Funeral Home of Tionesta from 6-9. Memorial services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Tionesta Public Library, Box 127, Tionesta, Pa. 16353, or the Clarion Forest Visiting Nurse Association Inc., 271 Perkins Rd., Clarion, Pa. 16214.
