Hazel A. Bowser, 83, of Sligo, PA, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at Brookville Hospital.

She was born in Wildcat, PA on December 29, 1930, the daughter of William and Nellie (Priester) Best.

Hazel was a lifetime resident of the area and attended Pine City Free Methodist Church. She dedicated her life to caring for her family, and was a wonderful cook and baker who was especially known for her homemade bread, buns and spaghetti. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting and creating pieces from plastic canvas. Family was the most important thing to Hazel, and she loved playing with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her sons, Lloyd Bowser, Jr., of Sligo, Dale Bowser and wife, Faith, of Beaver Springs, Donald Bowser and wife, Joy, of Kittanning, and Philip Bowser and wife, Susan, of Sligo; daughters, Stella Stockdill, of Oil City, and Donna Browand, of New Cumberland; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Mabel Fauzey and husband, David, of Rimersburg, and Merna Glenn, of Tidioute, PA.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Lloyd J. Bowser, Sr., whom she married August 2, 1952 and who died February 5, 2013; grandson, Michael Yarchuk; brothers, Paul and Philip Best; and sisters, Edna Yori, Elsie Buzard, Helen Newman, Anna Yori, Alice Ferguson and Nancy Best.

At the request of the family, services will be private.

Burial will be in Lawn Haven Burial Estates, Worthington, Pennsylvania.
