Hearing Continued for Man Accused of Choking Woman, Having Marijuana Plants Hidden in Attic

VENANGO CO., Pa. (EYT) – A hearing for a man accused of choking a woman at an Oil City residence, and having marijuana plants hidden in his attic, was continued on Wednesday.

Court documents indicate a hearing for 27-year-old Dylan Thomas Brown, of Oil City, scheduled for Wednesday, March 25, was continued and is scheduled to resume at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 8.

Brown faces the following charges:

– Strangulation – Applying Pressure to Throat or Neck, Felony 2 (three counts)
– Terroristic Threats W/Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2
– Use/Possession Of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (seven counts)
– Possession Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor
– Harassment – Subject Other to Physical Contact, Summary

The charges stem from an incident that occurred in Oil City last week.

Brown remains lodged in the Venango County Jail on $25,000.00 monetary bail.

Details of the case:

According to a criminal complaint, on Wednesday, March 18, a known female victim reported that around 10:00 a.m. on March 17, she was involved in an argument with Dylan Brown at her Seventh Street residence during which she alleged Brown charged at her, shoved her into a corner, and began to choke her.

The victim reported Brown charged her three times, and told police the first and second times he put his arms around her neck, and the third time he used his hands. She told police she could not breathe when he choked her and also reported Brown stated he was going to kill her.

The complaint notes photos were taken of the victim’s injuries from the incident.

According to the complaint, officers then accompanied the victim back to her residence to make sure Brown wasn’t inside. While checking the attic of the residence, the officers discovered an orange pocket containing multiple marijuana plants, as well as multiple glass smoking pipes with marijuana residue.

When questioned, the victim stated the plants and pipes belonged to Brown, and reported he goes up to the attic to smoke.

Brown was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Matthew T. Kirtland 10:44 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
