OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man is facing a hearing Wednesday on charges related to an incident where he was caught in possession of methamphetamine following a foot pursuit in Oil City.

Court documents indicate 26-year-old Blaise Xavier Detrich is scheduled to stand for a preliminary hearing in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 1, on the following charges:

– Resist Arrest/Other Law Enforcement, Misdemeanor 2
– Possession of Controlled Substance, Misdemeanor (four counts)
– Use/Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Misdemeanor (seven counts)

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Saturday, March 21, in Oil City.

According to a criminal complaint, around 6:07 p.m. on March 21, Officer Anderson of the Oil City Police department saw Blaise Xavier Detrich walking on East Second Alley behind Calvary United Methodist Church.

The complaint notes Officer Anderson was aware that Detrich had warrants from Venango County Court Supervision, who had been attempting to locate him. Officer Anderson then stopped Detrich at the intersection of East Second Alley and State Street and informed him there was a warrant for his arrest.

According to the complaint, when Officer Anderson told Detrich to put his hands up and walk backward, Detrich replied, “sorry,” and took off running. A foot pursuit then ensued, and Detrich was taken into custody on East First Street in the area of Citizens Bank.

The complaint states a search incident to arrest found Detrich was in possession of three baggies of methamphetamine, a contact lens container of methamphetamine, three plastic containers with a white crystal residue, four straws with white crystal residue, four pipes with white crystal residue, two spoons with white crystal residue, a bottle cap with white crystal residue, and 24 empty baggies all with white crystal residue.

Detrich was arraigned in front of Magisterial District Judge Andrew F. Fish at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24.

Unable to post $3,500.00 monetary bail, he remains lodged in the Venango County Jail.
