Helen FerrisHelen May Ferris, 80, of Fisher, passed away Sunday morning, March 26, 2017 at the Clarion Hospital.

She was born on August 30, 1936 in Mayport; daughter of the late Frank and Mary Taranto Bish.

Helen was married on December 29, 1967 to John T. Ferris, and he preceded her in death.

In her younger years, she worked for the former Bish Diner in New Bethlehem, the former Modern Diner in Clarion, and the former Johnny Garneau’s in Strattanville as a waitress and cook, and after her children were born, she was a homemaker.

Helen was a member of the Fisher Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed crocheting, listening to country music, watching the R.F.D. channel, and most of all, talking on the phone.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Mary Alice Wise and her husband Butch of Corsica and Jonette Ferris of Fisher, a sister, Mary Evelyn Smith of New Bethlehem, a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and step grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by a special niece, Debra Yates of New Bethlehem.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Johnny, two brothers, Frank and Vern, and a sister, Rose.

Family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017 in the Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Evans, presiding.

Interment will follow in the Fisher Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
