Helen Rebecca Jordan, age 86, of Knox (Nickleville), died early Saturday morning, February 9, 2013 at her home following a sudden illness.

Born February 11, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Ethel Shorts.

She married Norris C. Jordan on January 31, 1947 and he preceded her in death on December 30, 2003.

Helen was a homemaker and attended the Nickleville Presbyterian Church. She loved sewing and making quilts. She also crocheted and enjoyed making Navajo Indian weave rugs, a skill she learned from her mother.

Her family was especially important to her and her life focused around her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her grand dog, Willie.

Survivors include a son: Daniel C. Jordan and his wife, Pam, of Cranberry; three daughters: Becky Jordan of Knox, Brenda Jordan of Cranberry and Barbara Exley of Knox; seven grandchildren: Mike Jordan, Lisa Jordan Thompson and her husband, Matt; Tanya Clark and her husband, Don; Deana Irwin and her husband, Patrick; Jackie Switzer and her husband, Dan; Ryan Exley and his wife; Valerie and Jason Exley; five great grandchildren: Ashley, Andrew, Mya, Riley and Bronson.

Helen is also survived by two brothers and two sisters: R. Eugene Shorts and his wife, Carol, of El Paso, Texas; Sam Shorts and his wife, Marilyn, of Meadville; Nancy Young of Franklin and Shirley Ross of Cranberry.

In addition to her mother and husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Schmader.

Family and friends will be received from 1-3 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, February, 11, 2013 at the William N. Rupert Mortuary, Inc., 430 Mendenhall Avenue, Knox.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in the funeral home with the Reverend Sue Montgomery, pastor of the Nickleville Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Nickleville Cemetery.
