Henry PetersHenry K. Peters, 71, (also known as “Ken” or “Kenny”) of Marienville, PA, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the Butler VA Community Living Center (Hospice).

Born December 17, 1945 in Brookville, he was the youngest of five children born to Emogene Cox Peters Fiscus and Ray Wilmer Peters.

He was a 1963 graduate of East Forest High School where he was active in softball, basketball, and baseball and was a member of the Marienville East Forest Marching Band.  Ken served in the United States Navy from 1965 to 1972 at which time he received an honorable discharge. He served on the U.S.S. Leary for two tours during the Vietnam Conflict.

He married Harriette “Jo” Swab on August 28, 1970 in Waukegan, Illinois, she survives.  Together they had two children, Annette Marie and Henry Kelly II.

Ken was employed at the Warren State Hospital in the maintenance department until his retirement.

In his earlier years Ken enjoyed hunting and fishing, he really enjoyed mowing his lawn.

Ken is survived by his wife “Jo”, a daughter Annette Peters Andrews and her husband Paul, of Marienville,PA, and a son, Henry K. Peters of Clarion, PA.  He is also survived by a daughter from a previous relationship, Alayne McCauley Jacobs, and her husband, Robert of Eau Claire, PA.

He is also survived by six grandchildren: Shaina Andrews of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Mackenzie Andrews of Clarion, PA, Evan Andrews of Slippery Rock, PA, Taylor Andrews of Marienville,PA, and Cameron Peters and Braden Peters, both of Clarion, PA.

Additional survivors include a sister Dixie Quakenbush, and her husband William, of Marienville, PA, a brother, Ray Brent Peters, and his wife, Jeanne, of Oakdale, PA, and a sister-in-law, Iris Peters, of Prattville, Alabama.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Carl “Squeek” Peters, and a sister, Barbara Ann Peters Cochran and her husband, Carl.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry Street, Marienville, PA. There will be no viewing or visitation per Ken’s wishes.
 
Interment will be in the Roses Cemetery in Guitonville, Forest County, PA.
