SUGARCREEK TWP., Pa. (EYT) – A Franklin teen was transported to a Pittsburgh area hospital following a high-speed chase in Venango County Monday night.

Franklin-based State Police say the incident occurred around 5:20 p.m. when Marcus Luce, 18, failed to stop after a traffic stop was initiated.

Luce allegedly traveled at an excessive rate of speed on Two Mile Run Road, Warren Road, and State Route 417.

A male juvenile passenger was in the vehicle during the pursuit but Luce slowed down and allowed him to exit before continuing to travel at a high rate of speed, according to police.

The pursuit continued onto State Route 8 into Franklin where Luce allegedly struck a Franklin City Police patrol vehicle before coming to a stop.

He then allegedly produced a handgun and shot himself, according to police.

Luce was transported by medical helicopter to UPMC Presbyterian for treatment.

There is no word on his current condition.

Charges are pending.
