Hilda R. Wagner, 91, formerly of Climax, Armstrong County, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in Front Royal, Va., at the home of her daughter and son-in-law.

Born June 16, 1921, in Climax, she was a daughter of Robert and Minnie Buzzard. She married Merle Wagner June 20, 1937, in Climax and they were married 63 years. He preceded her in death, March 27, 2001.

She was a homemaker her entire life and enjoyed quilting, baking, playing Scrabble and dominoes (especially with her grandchildren), and jigsaw and crossword puzzles. She lived in Climax from her birth until she moved to Great Valley, N.Y., in 2003, to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She was a member of Climax Baptist Church from 1933 to 1989 when the church closed. Since then, she attended the Distant Baptist Church, First Baptist, of Great Valley, N.Y., and Skyline Baptist, of Front Royal, Va. Surviving Hilda is one daughter, Lois, and her husband, Randy DeSantis, of Front Royal, Va.; three grandsons, Benjamin (Celine), of Sandy Springs, Ga., Adam (Molly), of Bristol, Conn., and Nathan, of Pittsburgh; and three great-grandchildren, Jemma, Victor and Eden. She also is survived by a sister, Bessie Smith, of Mesa, Ariz. She dearly loved her family, but she loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, more, and is rejoicing with him today.

She was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard, Ernest and Samuel Buzzard; and three sisters, Mary Yount, Ethel Facemyer and Pearle Holibaugh.

Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2013, at Distant Baptist Church and also 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2013. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with her son-in-law, Pastor Randy DeSantis, celebrating. Interment will be in the Squirrel Hill Cemetery, Porter Township, Clarion County. Arrangements have been entrusted to ALCORN FUNERAL HOME.
