Hit and Run Crash in Irwin Township

IRWIN TOWNSHIP, Pa. (EYT) – Franklin-based State Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 80 in Irwin Township, Venango County.

Police say around 4:50 a.m. February 16, 59-year-old Miroslaw B Ratajczyk, of Holland MI, was travelling east in the left lane in a 2014 International Harvester.

According to police an unknown driver was also driving a tractor trailer in the right lane in front of Ratajczyk.

Police say the unknown truck braked causing the trailer to slide into a jackknife on the snow covered roadway.

Trailer impacted Ratajczyk’s vehicle causing him to lose control.

Ratajczyk’s vehicle traveled off the northern berm and into the median, impacting a ditch with the undercarriage.

The unknown vehicle continued east on Interstate 80 without stopping.
