OIL CITY, Pa. (EYT) — An Oil City man was arrested and charged after police say he entered a woman’s home, had a snack, and then assaulted her.

According to court documents, 33-year-old Steven Daniel Pearlstein, of Oil City, is charged with a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and summary harassment — subject other to physical contact.

According to a criminal complaint filed by Oil City Police Officer Byham, he and his fellow officers were dispatched to a residence on Hoffman Avenue after the victim reported an unwanted person, Pearlstein, was in her home, and she was outside in a car.

When officers spoke with the victim, she said Pearlstein was inside her home and intoxicated, the complaint states.

The victim stated that she came home on her lunch break because the alarm was going off, and she was receiving notifications on her phone, the complaint continues.

When the victim went upstairs, she found Pearlstein in the bedroom eating food in the bed. When she confronted him, he allegedly wrapped his legs around her and pushed her to the ground. He was on top of her and allegedly began striking her on top of her head, according to the complaint.

The victim said she was being struck so hard that she heard her neck crack, the complaint states.

When Pearlstein let her get up, she alerted police and went outside and waited for them to arrive, the complaint indicates.

Pearlstein then came out of the home and was taken into custody, according to the complaint.

He was arraigned on May 27 in front of District Judge Andrew Fish and waived his preliminary hearing on Wednesday, May 31, in Central Court, according to court officials.

On May 31, Pearlstein was released from the Venango County Jail on $35,000.00 unsecured bail.

The case will be transferred to the Venango County Court of Common Pleas.
