PLEASANTVILLE, Pa. (EYT) – Christmas Caroling will take on a new dimension on Sunday, December 8, in Pleasantville when equestrians will bring area residents a song from horseback, accompanied by a firetruck from the Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department.

The event begins at 2:00 p.m.

Tara Nason, an avid equestrian, and Nicole La Bolle created a Facebook event for what they hope will become an annual event – maybe even a tradition. (Find the Facebook event here.)

“We were thinking that Christmas caroling around the community would be a good idea,” says Nason. “It’s just for fun right now. Maybe in the future, we could add some sort of fundraiser or gather donations.”

“Right now we’re just testing the waters and get something going for the community,” Nason added.

Carolers and their horses will gather on West State Street at the Pleasantville Volunteer Fire Department, turn down Merrick Street beside the Dollar General, and proceed down North Main Street by the Pleasantville Elementary School. The carolers will then finish up back where they started at the fire department.

Nason estimates it will take them about an hour to cover the mile-and-a-half route, maybe a little longer if a lot of residents come out, Right now, they’re not planning to stop anywhere, but if there’s a big group them may spend some extra time singing with them.

Both horses and riders will be in the Christmas spirit.

“I handmade my horse’s blanket,” says Nason. “We’ll probably have a lot of jingle bells on the horses – maybe a few Santa hats.”

As for the riders, depending on the weather, there may be some pretty interesting ugly Christmas sweaters. Riders will be handing out candy canes to those who come out to sing along with them.

Music will be provided over the fire truck’s speaker system.
