Howard Ellsworth Hendershot

Howard Ellsworth Hendershot, 90, of Rockland, died Friday morning, May 12, 2017 at Sugarcreek Station in Franklin.

He was born in Rockland on April 29, 1927 to the late Ray and Gustie (Haniwalt) Hendershot.

Mr. Hendershot attended Rockland United Methodist Church.

Howard bowled in several local bowling leagues, and was awarded the ‘oldest member’ on the Tavern League.

He enjoyed trips to the casino, farming, and the companionship of his late pet terrier, ‘Nestle.’

Mr. Hendershot worked as a truck driver, drove school bus for Cranberry Schools, and was a machinist at Joy Manufacturing in Franklin for many years.

He was married in the Rockland United Methodist Church on October 18, 1975 to the former Isabelle A. (Nelson) Frawley, and she survives.

Also surviving are two step-children, Charles Frawley, Jr. and Debra M. Frawley, both of Rockland; and three step-grandchildren: Kayla Frawley of Erie, and Cassandra and Joshua Frawley, both of Rockland. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six sisters and two infant brothers.

Friends will be received Monday (May 15) from 3 – 7 p.m. in the Hile-Best Funeral Home, 2781 Rte. 257 in Seneca, Cranberry Township. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday (May 16) at 11 a.m. with Rev. James Kimmel, pastor of Rockland United Methodist Church, officiating.

Private interment will follow in Rockland Cemetery, Kennerdell.
