Ione R Schrecengost Lauer

Ione R Schrecengost Lauer, 92, formerly of Lucinda passed away on Friday, November 8, 2019 after a valiant fight against MDS.

Born on June 5, 1927, in Clarion and she was the daughter of Freeman and Luella Shuey Schrecengost.

She attended the Clarion Normal School and graduated from Clarion High School.

On June 26, 1946, she was married to Andrew A. Lauer who preceded her in death on December 31, 1999.

Ione was a member of St. Michael Church in Fryburg she was the leader of the Rosary Society in the 1960’s and was well known for her quilting and also her baked goods.

She and her husband owned and operated the Lauer Service Station in Kossuth and Shippenville for 40 years. She also sold her well known baked good at the Station.

Ione was well known for her quilting and baking. She enjoyed mowing her yard, and also playing games with her family and friends on her Ipad.

Ione is survived by: Ronald E. Lauer and wife Janet of Lucinda, Larry L. Lauer and his wife Sharyon of Knox, and Cindy Lauer of Shippenville. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. Siblings surviving include: Peggy Leslie of Columbus OH; and Lois Lahr of New Castle.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andrew, and her siblings: Freeman (Bud) Schrecengost Jr, Frances Fitzsimmons, Robert (Bob) Schrecengost, and Phyllis Baker.

Friends will be received at the Faller Funeral Home, Inc. in Fryburg on Sunday, November 10, 2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Mass of a Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 10 am on Monday, November 11, 2019, at St. Michael Church in Fryburg, with Rev. Joseph Czarkowski Pastor presiding.

Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery following the Mass.

Memorials in Ione’s honor may be made to St. Michael Steeple Restoration Fund.
