Irene L. Schiffer, 88, formerly of Laurel Ave. Oil City, PA. , died at 1:40 P.M.

Thursday Feb. 16, 2017 at Oakwood Heights after an extended illness.

Born April 25, 1928 in Oil City, PA., she was the daughter of the late Olen & Lenora Swartzlander Norman.

Irene attended Cranberry Schools.

She started working at Manion Steel & Barrell , then she worked at Oil City Glass and later moved to California where she managed Sir George’s Restaurant for many years.

She had previously been married to Ira “Joe” Schiffer and he preceded her in death.

Irene returned to Oil City many years ago to care for her mother and sister.

She enjoyed shopping and decorating her house.

Irene loved cats.

She was a member of the Oil City Church of the Nazarene.

Survivors include a sister-in-law, Norma Norman of Oil City; special cousins, Barbara Cubitt of Oil City, Dixie Hanes of Oil City; as well as many nieces, nephews and other cousins; and a good friend and neighbor, Mary Plyler of Oil City.

She was preceded in death by two brothers Olen Norman, & Donald Norman; and by two sisters, Violet Gearhart and Linda Norman.

Friends will be received from 9:30-10:30 A.M. Today(Saturday Feb. 18) in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 10:30 A.M. with Rev. Mark Rusnak, Presiding.

Interment will be in Grove Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Oil City Church of the Nazarene or to a charity of ones choice.
