FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — The production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play” will debut on Thursday, December 7, at the Barrow-Civic Theatre.

Most of us know the story of George Bailey, an idealistic family man stuck between two fates as he considers ending his life on Christmas Eve. For over 30 years, “It’s a Wonderful Life” has been a staple of Christmas television programming the world over, and fans will have the opportunity to experience it in an exciting new way, this December at the Barrow-Civic Theatre.

With the help of an ensemble that brings a few dozen characters to the stage, the beloved American holiday classic will come to life as a live 1940’s radio broadcast in Franklin Civic Operetta Association’s production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play.”

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, Friday, December 8, and Saturday, December 9.

Shows will also be presented at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 9, and Sunday, December 10.

Audiences will be transported to a simpler time, watching a team of actors and Foley artists create all the characters and sound effects for the production. Mary Houlihan of the Chicago Sun-Times says this show is “a fresh and inventive way of reconnecting with a classic story of love and redemption.”
