jackJack A. Kemmerer, 83, of Franklin, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday, June 16th.

Born September 21, 1933 in Franklin, Jack was the son of the late Harold S. and Miriam Moyer Kemmerer. He married the former Virginia M. McMillin on June 8, 1960 and she preceded him in death on October 7, 2013.

Jack was a 1951 graduate of Franklin High School, and was a US Army Veteran, having served from May 27, 1954 until March 5, 1956. In 1953, he received his Diploma in “Watchmaking and Repairing” and his certificate as a “Certified Master Watchmaker” from the Horological Institute of America in Washington, D.C. and worked at Feldman Jewelers as a watchmaker until his retirement.

Jack was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Franklin. In 1972 he joined the Franklin Kiwanis Club, served as president in 1976, received the “Kiwanian of the Year” award in 1982, was awarded the “Committee Chairman Award” in 2006, and remained an active member in the organization until his death. He was also a member of the Franklin Elks Lodge No 110, and life member of the Franklin Jaycees. He was also a past board member of the Franklin Chamber of Commerce.

Jack enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ginny, prior to her death. He was an model train collector and would set his train collections around the house at Christmas. He also enjoyed working around his house, in his yard, gardening, and spending time in his pool.

Jack is survived by his nephews, Paul William Kemmerer of Everett, WA; Mark Alan Kemmerer and his wife, Penny, of Yuma, AZ; his great-nephew, Justin Alan Kemmerer of Federal Way, WA; his great-great-nieces, Jasmine Kemmerer and Jayda Kemmerer, both of Federal Way, WA; and his first cousin, Elizabeth Wendlek of Harrisburg.

In addition to his parents and wife, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Harold “Bill” William Kemmerer.

Family and friends will be received at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin on Thursday, June 22nd from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.

Funeral Services for Jack will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Franklin on Friday, June 23rd at 11 a.m., with Rev. Jeff Little, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the V.E.T.S. Honor Guard.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1100 Liberty Street, Franklin PA 16323.
