John Richard (Jack) Hodge, 91, of Rouseville, died Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Golden Living Center in Oil City.

A lifelong resident of the area, he was born July 6, 1923 in Oil City, a son of the late Clyde C. and Kate E. Gillespie Hodge.

Jack served in the U.S. Navy, seeing action during WWII.

He was employed at the Worthington Corporation and the Maintenance Department of the Oil City Area School District.

Mr. Hodge was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Oil City.

He was a member of the Oil City Eagles, Moose, and Elks as well as the Fraternal Lodge No. 483, F. & A. M., Rouseville.

Jack enjoyed hunting, vegetable gardening, and spending time on his patio.

On August 1, 1952 he married the former Ruth Shutt, who preceded him in death on May 1, 1990.

Surviving is a son, Rev. John W. Hodge and his wife Konita of Mapletown, PA; a granddaughter, Kathryn Hodge of Bradford, PA; and a grandson Jeffrey Hodge of Washington, PA.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Merle C. Hodge and Charles W. Hodge; and a sister, Noreen E. Snyder.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 1 pm with the Rev. Bruce Davis, friend of Mr. Hodge’s son, officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
