Jack Rodney Jewell

downloadJack Rodney Jewell, 77, of Crown, and formerly of Lorain, Ohio, died Friday morning, February 27, 2015 at his home after an extended illness. Born on August 31, 1937, in Gary, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Ocean Willard and Birdie Veris Jewell.

He was married for 57 years to the former Anita G. Noonen, whom he married on December 21, 1957 at Thorpe, West Virginia and she survives.

Jack served with the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged.  He was a member of the Tionesta Church of God in Tionesta and the Family Fellowship Church when he was in Amherst Ohio.

Jack was employed by Ford Motor Company, for 34 years, retiring in 1995

Jack was a very civic minded person.  He was President of Lorain Cap for 27 years. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Lorain County United Community Services, a member of the policy board of Ohio Citizen Council and a member of Loraine County Regional Planning Association. He was also co-chairman of Lorain County Labor Committee and a member of Ohio Planning Association.  He was awarded for Outstanding Community Service from Ford Motor Company.

Jack’s greatest pride was in his family.  In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children: Rodney Jewell and his wife, Pat of Wickliffe, Ohio; William Jewell and his wife, Dawn of Vermilion, Ohio; Vickie Pinkerton and her husband, John of Canton, Ohio and Lisa Jewell Motter of Titusville.  He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition he is survived by a sister, Gladys Crandall and her husband, Bill of Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by 4 brothers, Luther, Ray, Charles and Bill Jewell and 1 sister, Ruth Jewell.

Friends and family may call on Tuesday, March 3, from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 at the Borland Funeral Home, Inc. in Leeper.  A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, March 4, at 11:00 a.m. at the Tionesta Church of God with Rev. Terry McGarrity, officiating.  Interment will be at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst, Ohio.

The family requests memorials be made to the Humane Society or the Cancer Society.
