Jail Inmate Facing Charges for Threatening Guard

FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) – An inmate in the Venango County Jail is facing criminal charges after he threatened a correctional officer.

According to court documents, 25-year-old Kervenson Pierre was arraigned on Thursday, November 30, in District Judge Matthew Kirtland’s office on the following charges:

– Terroristic Threats W/Intent To Terrorize Another, Misdemeanor 1
– Simple Assault, Misdemeanor 2

Pierre’s preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 20 with Judge Kirtland presiding.

According to a criminal complaint, Franklin City Police Officer Matt McConnell responded to a report of an assault at the Venango County Jail at 12:19 p.m. on Friday, November 10.

Officer McConnell spoke with Sergeant Raecke and the victim, a guard at the jail, who were both present at the time of the incident.

The victim said Pierre was disruptive in cell block F by interrupting the bible study. Pierre was then taken to the booking area and placed in a restraint chair because he wasn’t complying with verbal orders, the complaint states.

Sergeant Raecke said that after being in the restraint chair for two hours, several corrections officers had to assist with removing Pierre from the chair. The victim said he had applied a pressure point technique to the gain Pierre’s compliance, the complaint indicates.

The victim said that once Pierre had been removed from the restraint chair and while he was being handcuffed, he turned and looked at the victim and said, “Come over here bro, I am going to knock your (expletive) block off,” according to the complaint.

The victim said he then called Franklin City Police to report the threat, the complaint states.

Note: Pierre, originally from New York City, was in the jail after failing to post $100,000.00 cash ball on several charges, including resisting arrest, obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, and disorderly conduct from an incident that occurred in October.
