James C. Olson, 83, of Silver Springs, Florida; formerly of Marienville, PA , passed away Friday March 31, 2017 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA after a lingering illness.

Born October 31, 1933 in Marienville (Gilfoyle), PA, he was the son of the late Howard and Mabel (Murray) Olson.

He was married to the late Joanne (Heasley) Olson. Later in life he married the late Helen Tanner, they both preceded him in death.

James retired after 33 years with the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, working out of the Franklin, PA office as a Construction Cost Specialist.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, yard work and being a snow bird and not having to see snow.

James is survived by two sons, Brent Olson and special friend Mary Rita Copley of Oil City, PA, and Brian Olson of Tyler, Texas and a daughter Susan Schleich and her husband Kevin of Pueblo West, Colorado. Also surviving is a sister; Rita (Olson) Beichner and her husband Cletus “Pete” of Titusville, PA; four grandchildren; Krista, Andy, Charles and Emily.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by Joanne (Heasley) Olson, Helen (Tanner) Olson and a sister Donna Frost.

Friends and family will be received Wednesday April 5, 2017 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Furlong Funeral Home, 140 Cherry St., Marienville, PA.

A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with the Rev. Dan Richter, officiating.

Interment and a grave side committal service will follow at the Roses Cemetery, Marienville, Forest Co., PA.
