James Logan IIJames Joseph “Jim” Logan, II, 71, a resident of 336 Gurney Road, Franklin took his final journey from his wife’s arms to Heaven at 8 PM Monday, April 17, 2017 at Sugarcreek Station.

Born in Cleveland, OH on September 10, 1945, Jim was the beloved son and only child of James Joseph Logan, I and Emma Louise Filson Logan.

Jim attended Christ the King Elementary School in Cleveland. He began high school at Brophy Preparatory School in Phoenix, AZ, and returned to Cleveland to graduate from Shaw High School with the Class of 1965. While in high school, Jim was a diver on the swim team.

He completed his education, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at Cleveland State University in 1975. He went on to own and operate his own printing businesses throughout the Cleveland area, until his retirement.

On July 20, 2001, Jim wed the former Charleen Slagter. They enjoyed several vacations together, especially to Jamaica and California.

Jim was a lifelong Catholic. A quiet, well spoken man, Jim’s handshake was his word. He enjoyed music, especially the oldies, classic western movies, inviting friends into his home to swap stories and have a cold beer around the kitchen table and his wife’s cooking. He was a diehard Cleveland Brown’s fan and took much good-natured ribbing from his pals here in Steeler Country.

Jim is survived by his wife at home, his children, and grandchildren in whom he took much pride: Magen Logan Kavinsky and her husband Christopher and their children: Mia, Lucy and Evan, and his son, James Joseph “J.J.” Logan, III, all of Columbus, OH.

Also, surviving is his sister-in-law, Kathryn “Kathy” Slagter of Ellwood City and cousin, Cristy Semler and husband Al of Mayport.

Jim lived the last three years of his life at Sugarcreek Station, due to Lewey Body disease. Also left to remember him are the staff from all departments who befriended, supported and cared for Jim and Charleen. Together, they attended Mass, enjoyed many good times and delicious holiday meals. The couple renewed their marriage vows in the Chapel there on their 15th wedding anniversary.

Besides his parents, there to welcome Jim home to Heaven are his parents-in-law, Charles and Kathryn Slagter and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.

Friends may call Thursday 5-7 PM in the Timothy E. Hartle Funeral Home, 1328 Elk Street, Franklin.
