Born April 13, 1929, in Seneca he was the son of the late James and Hazel Amsler.
On February 13, 1953 Jim married Ellen Cicman and she survives. After high school Jim joined the Army and served in the Korean War.
Jim worded for PA Dept. of Transportation and was a member of the Clarion County Rod and Gun Club and the Knox American Legion Post 720.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters Brenda Polatty of Shippenville, and Lynn Neely and her husband Denny of Shippenville, five grandchildren Jamie Hooks and her husband Cory of Shippenville, Stephanie Polatty of Steamboat Springs, CO, Casey Neely and his wife Meagan of Lucinda, Cody “Buck” Neely of Valencia, and Andrew Polatty of Clarion, and three great-grandchildren Trenton Hooks, Treyven Hooks and Tyson Hooks.
Also surviving are two brothers George Amsler and Thomas Amsler.
Along with his parents Jim was preceded in death by three brothers Cecil Amsler, Robert Amsler and Richard Amsler.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at the McEntire-Weaver Funeral Home, Inc., 504 E. Penn St., Knox.
A memorial service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Evans, Clarion-Forest VNA Hospice chaplain, officiating.
Full military honors will be performed by Knox American Legion Berlin-Bowser Post 720.
