James Harkless SrJames L. Harkless, Sr., 83, of 309 ½ Hoffman Ave, died at 4:20 am, Monday, December 26, 2016 at his home.

Born August 11, 1933 in Oil City, he was a son of the late Walter L. and Helen I. Eddinger Harkless.

He served in the US Navy.

Mr. Harkless retired from Joy Manufacturing after 28 years of service in 1995. Also, close to his heart was working for Local Lodge No. 1842, where he had been head of the committee.

He enjoyed camping at Kibbies Island, going to casinos and scratching lottery tickets. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his family.

On May 11, 1957, he married the former Frances R. Mast, she survives. They had celebrated 59 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, surviving are 4 children, James L. Harkless, Jr. and wife Melanie, Linda Sterling and husband Mike, Deb Brink and husband Darry and Marilyn Frank and husband Pete; grandchildren, Ryan Harkless and Sarah Wheeler, Tracy Frank and John Williams, Dan Frank, Shawn Harkless, and Becca, Alex and Tanner Brink; and two great grandchildren.

Also surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Art Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Sterling, a brother, Walter E. Harkless, a sister, Shirley Guyda and an infant sister.

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 am Thursday.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.
