James Richard Smith, of Sigel, went to be with the Lord on July 4th, 2017 at age 76, in the Clarion Hospital.

He was born on May 21, 1941 to Donald and Mabel Smith in Hershey, Pa, and married his high school sweetheart, Lois Beachell on June 16, 1962.

Along with his wife, he is survived by a daughter Laurel Shields and husband Steve, of Curwensville, Pa; a daughter Kathy Friedlund and husband John of Boyertown, PA; a son Tim Smith and wife Mary Jo of Eastanollee, GA; a brother
Don Smith and wife Sherri of Hummelstown, PA.; ten grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four nephews and nieces.

Jim retired from Humphrey Charcoal Company in Brookville, where he worked as a sales manager for 32 years.

He was a member of the Brookville Alliance Church.

A private memorial service will be held.

The family suggests that memorial gifts can be made to the missionary efforts of two of his grandchildren, in the form of checks to Trinity Missions Sponsorship Fund, 250 Sweinhart Rd, Boyertown, PA 19512.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the McKinney — d’Argy Funeral Home, ltd, on Main St., in Brookville, PA.
