James Robert Jones, 93, Westmont, died August 10, 2017, at Westmont Woods.

He was born June 26, 1924, in Mercer, son of the late Harry B. and Virginia M. (Clayton) Jones.

Preceded in death by first wife, Pauline (Batten) Jones and second wife, Janet (Tritt) Jones; stepfather, Louis Felix and sisters, June and Hazel.

Survived by daughters, Kathleen Drozdiak (Russell), Cynthia Pankratz (Frank), and Virginia Hartland (Dennis); 8 grandchildren, Sara Skrabalak, (Mark Fraley), Alice Drozdiak Early (Eric), Caroline Drozdiak, Laura Pankratz Allaman (Jeff), Lisa Pankratz, Linda (Pankratz) Hockenberry (Adam), Bret Hartland and Amy Hartland Leap (Jared) and 6 great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Hanna, Emma, Gretchen, Dylan and Carter.

He is also survived by his beloved feline companion, Nova and his many coffee friends.

Bob was a 1942 graduate of Franklin High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1948 from Purdue University, and completed the Public Utility Executive Program at the University of Michigan.

He was a World War II US Navy veteran.

Bob was employed by Joy Manufacturing Company in Franklin and then Allis-Chalmers Manufacturing in Pittsburgh. Then He was employed by Penelec from 1950 to 1986 in Oil City and Johnstown as an electrical engineer, manager in Systems Operations.

He was a lifelong Presbyterian and a member of 2nd Presbyterian Church as well as BPOE #175. Bob was also training chairman and district commissioner of the Col. Drake Council of the Boy Scouts of America, having received the Silver Beaver Award and a member of the United Commercial Travelers for 50 years. Bob’s favorite pastime was researching genealogy.

Friends will be received from 1 p.m. Sunday until the time of funeral service at 2 p.m. at Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 921 Menoher Blvd., the Rev. Art Moffatt, officiating. Entombment Grandview Cemetery.
