James T. Hach

James T. Hach, 76, of Webster, New York, formerly of Shippenville, died Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017.

Predeceased by his first wife, Jane.

He leaves his wife, Barbara; children, Charlie (Shannon) Hach, Matthew (Joanne) Hach and Susan (Jeffrey) Murphy; children by marriage, Bethany (Rob) Prunier, Steve (Kim) Spitzer, Eric (Amy) Spitzer; grandchildren, Cyrus and Celia Hach, Emily and Zachary Hach, Ronan, Samuel and Jude Murphy, Caley, Nick, Sam and Tess Prunier, Sophie, Anna and Luke Spitzer, Avery and Allie Spitzer; brothers, Edwin (Betty) and Robert Hach; nieces and nephews.

Jim was a retiree of Eastman Kodak with 35 years of service.

Jim was born in Oil City, PA, to his parents Edwin Hach and Sara Reed.

A 1959 graduate of Keystone High School, Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in 1963 from Clarion University in Pennsylvania. During his time at Clarion, Jim married his first wife, Jane Stover, in 1962, in Knox, PA. After his graduation, Jim and Jane moved to Rochester where he taught at Charlotte High School for year before attending Penn State to earn his master’s degree in physics. Upon completing his degree, Jim moved back to Rochester to work at Eastman Kodak, where he worked for 35 years, and in 1973, he and his growing family moved to Webster.

Jim married Barbara Spitzer in 2011 at the Webster Presbyterian Church.

Jim loved to play the trumpet, and was a former member of the Webster Village Band.

He enjoyed astronomy and photography as hobbies, was a former Cubmaster of Pack 474, and a member of the Jaycee’s.

Jim was extremely dedicated to his family, he loved his grandchildren, and he often made road trips to see them all.

Though he was not tied to a particular religious tradition, Jim was a faithful follower of Jesus.

Friends are invited to his Memorial Service 2:00 PM Friday, September 1, at the Webster Arboretum, Curry Building, 1700 Schlegel Rd., Webster.
