FRANKLIN, Pa. (EYT) — Franklin City Manager Tracy Jamieson told the city council on Monday that the city is resolved to do whatever it takes to improve on not having another water issue like the one last month.

“I can tell you we are resolved to do whatever we need to do improve things we need to improve on,” Jamieson said. “We will be setting up rigorous maintenance and inspection routines. You still can’t help it when equipment goes bad, but we are going to try to take out any possibility that something won’t get noticed until the next day or whenever. Everyone is resolved to do that.”

Jamieson took the time to thank the city staff, local volunteers, and the public for their help.

“The front office staff took a lot of the brunt of the calls from the public,” Jamieson said. “They handled it with professionalism and patience. Other staff members volunteered their different talents to assists with the emergency.”

Jamieson pointed out that the fire department took over the bottled water process, and the Wastewater Department helped with getting all of the bottled water with the Water Department helping with delivering the water and flushing the hydrants

“Everybody contributed to this all-hands-on-deck situation,” Jamieson said. “I really, really appreciate it.”

Jamieson also commended the council members and the general authority for keeping themselves apprised of the situation.

“You, in turn, help be messengers to the public then,” Jamieson said.

Jamieson added that she was very appreciative to the public, who for the most part, weathered the situation with grace and understanding.

“I’m very thankful this event didn’t occur during a drought,” Jamieson said. “It could still be going on right now. This could have lingered much longer.”
