Jana L. Haylett, 81, of 20539 Grange Center Rd., Saegertown, passed away Friday, September 22, 2017, at UPMC-Hamot Medical Center, Erie.

Jana was born in Erie, on August 9, 1936, the only child of the late Kenneth and Frances (Reed) Lesh.

On August 10, 1957, Jana married Charles B. Haylett; he preceded her in death on December 20, 2014.

She had been a member of First Presbyterian Church of Meadville, wherein the 70’s and early 80’s she was a member of the choir.

A graduate of Franklin High School, Jana attended Erie schools up until her Senior year. She went on to further her education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Edinboro College.

In her earlier years, she was employed as an Art Teacher at Franklin High School and had also been employed by the former J.C. Penney in Meadville.

Jana delighted in being a homemaker and especially enjoyed working in the kitchen. She was an excellent cook and baker with her apple pies second to none.

Her other interests including drawing and sewing.

Over the years she made many placemats, pillows, blankets, and all types of clothing for her daughter and grandchildren.

She often crafted “show” clothing for her family that was worn in various competitions. Others called on her to make “show” clothing for their children, as well as animals.

Each year Jana looked forward to attending the Sewing Bizarre which continued to spark her love of sewing.

Jana liked to spend time outdoors, be it gardening, fishing or simply appreciating the beauty of nature. She enjoyed her fishing trips to Canada and Alaska.

Jana had a great appreciation for all things around her. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.

Jana is survived by a daughter Christine A. Roberts of Conneautville, three granddaughters Brittany Wheeler and her husband Cody of Linesville, Amanda Roberts of Saegertown, Emily Roberts of Conneautville, two great-grandchildren Logan Roberts of Saegertown and Harlee Wheeler of Linesville.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Charles, of 57 years.

Family and friends are invited to call on Monday, September 25, 2017 from 6-9 PM and also on Tuesday from 12-1 PM at STEPHEN P. MIZNER FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 330 BROAD ST., SAEGERTOWN, where Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM with Jana’s niece, Rev. Diane Whitman, officiating.

Jana will be laid to rest next to her husband, Charles, in Saegertown, Cemetery, Hayfield Twp.
