Jane E. (Wilson) Butler, 84, of Oil City, PA , formerly of New Kensington, died on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Oakwood Heights Presbyterian Home, Oil City, PA.

Jane was born on May 24, 1929 in Fairchance, PA to the late George W. and Rosella C. Humes Wilson. She moved to New Kensington in 1941. She was a graduate of New Kensington High School class of 1947. She continued her education for nursing and graduated in 1950 from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. She worked 15 years as a registered nurse, starting with Citizens General Hospital in the 1950’s. She went on working at the Alcoa Powder plant in the 1960’s and then Belair Nursing Home in 1970 before retiring in 1976. Jane was a life member of the Lower Burrell VFW Post 92 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed old movies, reading, music, going to casinos, shopping, crossword puzzles, bingo and most of all spending time with her family.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years: Richard E. (Dick) Butler; her children: Dennis (Cheryl) Butler of Oil City, Richard (Cari Ann) Butler of New Kensington, Tammy (Paul) Butera of New Kensington and Russel (Meigan) Butler of Reston, VA; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters: Mona Louise Wilson and Marlene Hope Allshouse and a niece: Mona Artman.

Family and friends are invited from 1-4 PM on Sunday, March 9, at the CHURCHFIELD-PETERS FUNERAL HOME, 501 Fifth Avenue, New Kensington, PA 15068 (724-335-1951), where services will follow at 3:30 PM. Private burial will follow at the Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell, PA. Lower Burrell VFW Ladies Auxiliary will meet at 3 PM at the funeral home.
