Janet “Jan” L. Kenniston

Janet “Jan” L. Kenniston, 80, of Oil City, died after an extended illness with Parkinson’s, Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Oil City Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born August 15, 1937, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Wilfred F. and Ella L. Sawatsky Kay.

After graduating from Oil City High School in 1955, Jan worked for Joy as a data processor, and in the Cranberry School District as a substitute building aide before working with her husband as the owners of Kenniston Auto Repair on Plummer Street in Oil City.

She was a life-long member of Christ Lutheran Church in Oil City where she was active in many church organizations and activities.

Jan was a Lady Elk and was active with the Jaycees as the wife of a senator. She volunteered her time painting scenery and setting up props for the Community Playhouse.

On July 16, 1960, she was married to Robert C. Kenniston, who preceded her in death on July 21, 1996.

Surviving are a son, Robert Kenniston of Oil City; a daughter, Kelli Molenkamp and her husband Richard of Parkville, MO; and four granddaughters, Rhiannon and Kieara Kenniston of Oil City, and Anastasia and Winter Molenkamp of Parkville, MO.

Also surviving is a sister, Joyce Elliott and her husband Fred of Seneca.

Family and friends may call at the Christ Lutheran Church on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., where a funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. David Oester officiating.

Interment will be in Brandon Cemetery.

The family requests memorials be made to Christ Lutheran Church, 1029 Grandview Rd, Oil City, PA 16301.
