Janet Marie Greene

Janet Marie Greene of Grandview Road, Oil City, passed away, surrounded by her loving family, Thursday, August 31 at the Caring Place in Franklin.

Born August 13, 1931, in Oil City, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Mary Clark Boring.

Janet graduated in 1949 from Oil City High School.

Mrs. Greene was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City, where she was a former deacon. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.

She worked as the church secretary at the First Presbyterian Church in Oil City. Later, she worked at Quaker State Corporation as an executive secretary until her retirement in 1986.

Janet was an accomplished pianist, she loved to play her piano. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing cards, taking walks, knitting, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She will always be remembered for the large family dinners she had every Sunday.

On June 16, 1951, she was married to John Kenneth Greene who preceded her in death on November 18, 2011.

Surviving are five children, Curtis Greene, Randy Greene, Jeff Greene, and Julie Greene Schneider, and Christine Klapec and her husband Michael, all of Oil City, 12 grandchildren, Michelle Hanna of Ambridge, Dr. Elizabeth Grandelis and her husband Dane of Pittsburgh, Ashley Yacabozzi and her husband Randy of Cincinnati, OH, Benjamin Greene of Oil City, Brittany Schneider Drozdo and her husband Joseph of Charleston, VA, Matthew Schneider and his fiancee Maureen Cress of Erie, Ryan, Christopher, and Sean Schneider, all of Oil City, and Evan, Olivia, and Alec Klapec of Oil City, and 10 great-grandchildren.

Also surviving is a sister Ruth Dorney of Santa Barbara, CA and a brother Marvin Boring and his wife Shirley of Columbus, OH.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son Larry Greene, a grandson Scott Greene, and two brothers, James and Bob Boring.

The Morrison Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

There will be no visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in Sunset Hill Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Venango County Humane Society.
