Jeanne I. (Muschick) Winger

| April 16, 2014

Jeanne I. (Muschick) Winger, a longtime resident of Sandy Lake, has departed to the Promised Land, for a life that is free from pain and tears, a life everlasting in God’s Great Domain, on Monday, April 14, 2014, in the Caring Place, Franklin, after a long seven year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 88.

Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie and Ralph McLean; her first husband, Robert Richard Muschick, who died tragically in a farming accident; a sister, Betty DeCoste; a daughter, Kathie Jean (Seddon) Allen; two granddaughters, Polly Ann Notareschi and Carrie L. Reynolds, God needed angels in Heaven, so he called our dear Polly and Carrie above; a grandson, Nkhumah E. Tarr who left this world so very young in a horrible motorcycle accident; and her second husband, Donald D. Winger.

Jeanne was born Nov. 8, 1925, in Detroit, Mich.

She moved to Pittsburgh where she graduated from Peabody High School.

In 1946 she married Robert R. Muschick and they bought a dairy farm in Sandy Lake and moved there to start their family. They had four children and they paid her this tribute: “Mom was one of the kindest and most thoughtful persons you could ever meet, she opened her heart to everyone she met over the years and she will be sorely missed.” “A person is born twice, first at birth and again when their mother dies.”

Jeanne received her bachelor’s degree in education and then her master’s degree in education from Clarion State University. She retired from Polk Center after 30 years of service as a teacher in the education department.

She was an active member of the New Lebanon Community Church, the Ladies Aid Society and was a Sunday School teacher.

As a Girl Scout leader she took her senior troop on a memorable camping across the United States and into Yellowstone National Park and back, one they would always remember.

She enjoyed gardening, playing cards, sewing, and reading, but her greatest love was spending time and socializing with her family and friends, which brought her great joy. She had a wonderful smile that would light up a room.

She is survived by two sons, Robert Muschick and his wife Gwen and David Muschick and his wife Carol, and a daughter, Lynn Muschick and her companion Maria Tarr, all of Sandy Lake.

Also surviving is a brother, Ronald McLean and his wife Evie of South Carolina; a brother-in-law, Robert DeCoste of St. Clair Shores, Mich.; two daughters-in-law, Lannie Reither of Stoneboro and Debbie Beers of Winter Park, Fla.; two sons-in-law, Tom Seddon and Dan Allen, both Sandy Lake; 20 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

A very special thank you to all the wonderful caregivers over the past several years: “Thank you so very much for all your loving care of Mom. May you be showered with blessings from our Father above.”

According to Jeanne’s wishes there will be no calling hours and private family services will be held.

Interment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery, Sandy Lake Township.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 100 W. Station Square Drive, Pittsburgh, 15219; or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are being handled by Scott A. Black Funeral Home, 99 Franklin St., Stoneboro.
