John A. “Jack” Ifft

John IfftJohn A. “Jack” Ifft, 84, of Henry’s Bend, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2017 at his home.

Born Dec. 9, 1932 in Canton, OH., he was the son of the late John L. Ifft & Lyda Tucker Ifft.

John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War.

After his military service he attended Penn Sate University and obtained a BS in Geology and Mineralogy in 1960.

John began his working career in the Oil & Gas industry at age 14 when he built his first drilling rig. After graduating from Penn State he joined his father in business as John L. Ifft & Son drilling. He then went on to become an Oil & Gas Inspector with the PA Department of Environmental Resources. He was promoted to Chief of the Division where he remained until the department became a bureau. At that time he became Program Manager for Oil & Gas in the southern district until he retired in 1992. After his retirement he continued to work as a consultant to the Oil & Gas industry and operated his own drilling rig.

John was a member of the Board of Directors of Drake Well and was founding member of the Friends of Drake Well. He also served on the Board of Directors of PIPP. He was a 60 year member of the American Legion.

John had a lifelong passion for the Oil & Gas Industry. His greatest enjoyment was his property at Henry’s Bend where he spent much time tending the property, hunting, fishing and managing the timber.

He also enjoyed stamp collecting and woodworking.

John is survived by his wife of 56 years, Judy; 3 children John T. Ifft of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Lynne A. Reichenbaugh and her husband Mel of Sarver, PA., and Carol L. Darabant and her husband Joseph of Oakdale, PA.; and Jill Richards of Rochester, NY, who, upon the passing of her parents became part of his family.

Also surviving are 3 grandchildren, John, Lauren, and Robert Reichenbaugh of Sarver, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother, David.

Private Funeral Services will be at the discretion of the family.
