OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAJohn “Bill” Propst, 76, of Kennerdell passed away April 14, 2017 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

Bill was born December 1, 1940 in Aliquippa Pa to the late Ira C. and Edith F. Patterson Propst.

He was married to Sallie C. Gill on April 19, 1963.They celebrated 47 years of marriage prior to her passing on November 22, 2009.

He graduated from Hopewell High School in Aliquippa, Pa and served in the National Guard. Currently, he was serving as township supervisor for Rockland Township, a position he held for over 20 years.

He was a landlord for many years, operating numerous rental units. Bill retired from Cranberry School District as a bus driver and custodian. Earlier in his life, he owned and operated a Mac Tool truck, delivering tools to many businesses in the area. He also worked for Continental Can Company in Oil City, Pa.

Among his joys in life were his family, many friends, and his beloved dogs Chloe, Sadie and the cat Kit. Bill loved to sit outside and watch the wildlife. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed everything that his country home in Rockland had to offer.

It wasn’t uncommon to find Bill at an auction or yard sale come Saturday morning or tinkering in the yard with any number of projects.

He was also a member of Kennerdell Church of God.

Loved ones left to treasure Bill’s memory are his fiancé Fran Fitterer of Rockland. Two children: Teri Propst of Edinboro, Pa., Todd Propst and wife Holly of Harborcreek, Pa. Bill has three wonderful grandchildren Cody Propst of Clarion, Pa., Gina Groszkiewicz of McKean, Pa. and Abigayle Propst of Harborcreek, Pa. and a brother-in-law Richard Gill of Cowansville, Pa.

Family will receive friends at the Larry E. McKinely Funeral Home, 109 Emlenton Street, Clintonville, Pa. on Tuesday, April 18th from 2-4 and 7-9.

Funeral service will take place at the Kennerdell Church of God, 151 Watson Ave, Kennerdell, Pa. Wednesday April 19th at 11:00am with Pastor Bobbie Nelson officiating.

Visitation will also be at the church from 10a.m. till the time of the service.

Interment will be private at Rockland Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Venango County Foundation, Hospice Program, 491 Allegheny Blvd, Franklin, Pa 16323.
