John H. Davis

John H. Davis, 76, a resident of 700 Mercer Road, Franklin died peacefully at 3:15 AM Sunday, October 5, 2014 in Sugarcreek Station; following a period of declining health.

He was born April 13, 1938 in Reno, a beloved son of the late: Elmer Lloyd Davis and Mary Edith Cross Davis.

He attended the Victory schools and graduated in 1956 from the former Victory High School.

John proudly served his country during peacetime as a member of the U.S. Army, just prior to the beginning of the Vietnam War era. He was honorably discharged from duty on August 31, 1963 with the rank of E-4.

He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church in Franklin.

John was employed for many years as a journeyman printer with Venango Newspapers; and it was from there that he retired.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing, NASCar racing and travelling and camping with his family. His greatest joy was the quality time he was able to share with his children and grandchildren.

He was married March 26, 1960 in Grace United Methodist Church in Clintonville to the former Barbara Joan Splatt, who survives.

In addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, he is also survived by a son: Brian K. Davis of Richmond, VA and by two daughters: Debra J. Williams, of Kettering, OH and Julie L. Yobp and her husband Ralf of Canton, GA.

Also surviving are his beloved grandchildren: Bailey and Anna Yobp.

In accordance of his wishes, there will be no public visitation.

A memorial service, in celebration of his life, is being privately planned by his family.
