John H. Kriebel, 89, of Rimersburg, passed away on Saturday evening, May 12, 2018.

Born in Millerstown, Butler County on September 6, 1928, he was the son of Edmerle and Dorothy (Grant) Kriebel. John was married to Keenie Fowler on September 28, 1946. She passed away earlier this year on April 24.

John was a coal miner all of his life as a mechanic and an electrician. He retired from Penn Allegheny Coal Mine in 1989. John was a lifelong member of the VFW post #7132 in Rimersburg. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and his yard work.

John is survived by one son, Terry Kriebel and his wife Diana of Noblesville, Indiana; two granddaughters, Katy Kriebel of Abilene, Texas and Scotia McCung and her husband, John, of Carmel, Indiana; a grandson, Aaron Ball and his wife Elizabeth of Cicero, Indiana; and eight great-grandchildren: Zach, Evan, Jacob, Joshua, Isabella, Teilah, Selah, and Amariah. He is also survived by four sisters: Marcella Anthony of Rimersburg, Janet McCauley and her husband Jim of New Bethlehem, PA., Joan Taylor and her husband Brian of Treasure Lake, PA., and Judy Hook and her husband Jim of New Bethlehem; four brothers: Carl Kriebel of Hawthorn, PA., Blaine Kriebel of Distant, PA., Grant Kriebel and his wife Jeri of Brownsville, PA., and Larry Kriebel and his wife Ruby of New Bethlehem.

In addition to his wife and parents, John was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Kriebel, and three brothers: Eugene, Jerry, and Richard Kriebel.

John’s family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, at the Varner Funeral Home of Rimersburg. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 17, from the Baker Street Church of God with Rev. John Milliron officiating.

Interment will follow in the Rimersburg Cemetery.
