John McCueJohn L. McCue, 74, of Chicora, passed away Tuesday morning, December 27, 2016 at the VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

John was born in Craigsville, near Worthington, on October 2, 1942. He was the son of the late John D. and Cathern McGrady McCue.

John was of the Roman Catholic faith. He was baptized and raised at St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville and also attended Mater Dolorosa in Chicora. John was a 1960 graduate of Worthington High School and was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from ARMCO in Butler following many years of service. He also worked part time for Waltman Furniture Co. in Chicora and drove school bus for McCormick’s in Chicora.

John was a member of the SOI in Butler and the American Legion Butler Post #117. In his earlier years John’s hobbies included skiing, hunting, and collecting old items and artifacts, especially arrowheads and bottles. John was a Boy Scout Leader for Pack #217 in Chicora and was an avid NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching and attending races. He enjoyed the company of his dog, “Gunner”. John was a skilled mechanic and spent many hours working on engines and oil wells.

He is survived by three children, Tamara Kleinfelder and her husband, Carl, of Slippery Rock, Daniel J. McCue and his wife, Jennifer, of Charlotte, NC, and Catherine R. Collwell and her husband, David, of Chicora; his former wife and his children’s mother, Donna McCormick McCue of Chicora; five grandchildren, Alyce Acre and her husband, Greg, and Ronald G. Porch, both of Slippery Rock, Eric D. McCue and his fiancé, Rayanna Furst and Erin D. McCue, all of Karns City, and Bradley J. Bowser of Chicora; a great granddaughter, Mara Renae Acre, of Slippery Rock; three step grandchildren, Julia Kleinfelder of Butler and Kendall and Owen Collwell of East Brady; seven brothers, Donald McCue and his wife, Rose, of Dunbar, William “Bill” McCue of Penn Hills, Bernard McCue of State College, Melvin McCue and his wife, Eileen, and Paul McCue and his wife, Donna, all of Fenelton, Kenneth McCue and his wife, Nancy and David McCue and his wife, Linda, all of Worthington; a sister-in-law, Dolores McCue of Butler, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Wayne, Raymond, and Gary; a son-in-law, Jeffrey G. Porch, and a number of brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home of Chicora, 339 Chicora Fenelton Rd., Chicora from 2- 4 and 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday from St. John The Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 668 Clearfield Rd., Fenelton, with the Rev. Matthew McClain, church pastor, officiating.

Interment will follow at St. John’s Church Cemetery.
