John Lester Sarvey, Sr.

John Lester Sarvey, Sr. of Clarion passed away at his home on February 22, 2019 following a brief illness. He was 73 years of age.

John was born in Sewickley on May 29, 1945, the son of the late Warren Irvin and Margaret Christina (Siegel) Sarvey, Sr. After he left school, he went to work in lumber and construction. He worked for Huffman Lumber, Gerald Jones Construction, Warren Harnish Construction, and the Clarion Cemetery Association.

On October 4, 1969, he was married the former Dorothy Louella Hunsberger, who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, John L. Sarvey, Jr., also of Clarion; his daughters, Joanne (Richard) Walter, of Emlenton, and Janice Sarvey, of Sykesville; and his grandson, Joshua Dawson.

He is also survived by his five sisters, Lulubelle Werner, of Belle Vernon, Evelyn Kline, of Punxsutawney, Mina Mineard, of Beaver Falls, Barbara Perricellia, of Coraopolis; and Alice Sarvey, of Clarion. He will also be missed by his large extended family and group of friends.

John loved tinkering in his shed out behind the house. He fixed mowers and just about anything else that folks would bring around. He enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family, camping, hunting and fishing.

Arrangements are under the care of the Goble Funeral Home and Crematory in Clarion. A memorial service will held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m.
