Joseph Angelo Senott, 82, of Cooperstown, died on Saturday, May 26, 2018, surrounded by his family.

Joe was born to the late Joseph and Mamie Senott on May 20, 1936, in Rossiter, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Saints Cosmas and Damian School in Punxsutawney in 1954 and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.

He served as a radio technician in the Second Service Regiment, Second Marine Division, Fleet Marine Force, Atlantic at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant on September 26, 1958.

On May 11, 1959, Joe joined the Pennsylvania State Police, where he served with distinction and pride for 35 years. He spent most of his career in Troop E, first posted to the Erie barracks and later to Franklin, where he settled and formed many long-lasting friendships. He retired from the force on July 29, 1994.

Joe will be remembered for his keen sense of humor, practical jokes, love of golf and fierce loyalty to his friends and community. He loved wood-working, hockey, golf trips and most of all, laughing. He was generous, caring and honest, and he will be missed.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Norma, whom he married on July 23, 1977.

He is survived by his children, Joseph Senott and his wife Kelly of Cleves, Ohio; James Doyle and his wife Judy of Stafford, Virginia; Jaime Winger of Franklin; and Jason Doyle and his wife Susan of Mantua, Ohio; his grandchildren Michael, Douglas, Jolene, Jessica, Janson, Ava, Rachael, Alexandra and Julia; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Also surviving are his sisters, Catherine Senott of Punxsutawney, Mary Mancuso of Reynoldsville, and Rose Ashenfelter of Punxsutawney; and his former wife, Peggy Senott of Franklin.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to Huff – Guthrie Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc., 312 West Park St. Franklin where private visitation for family will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 30, followed by a Blessing Service at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Deacon Dick O’Polka of St. Patrick Church, officiating.

Interment with full State Police and Military Honors will follow at Cooperstown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cooperstown Volunteer Fire Department at 152 North Main Street, Cooperstown, Pennsylvania 16317.
