Joseph Carl Brozeski, 67, of 220 Spruce St. Oil City, PA. died at 10:00 A.M. Thursday May 9, 2013 at UPMC-Northwest in Seneca after an extended illness.

Born March 28, 1946 in Oil City, PA., he was the son of Mildred M. “Millie” Dabrowski Brozeski and the late Carl S. Brozeski.

Joe attended Assumption Schools and was a 1964 graduate of Oil City Area High School.

He attended Clarion University and graduated with a B.S. in Music.

He had been a music therapist at Polk State School early in life and had been a music teacher in Florida where he was involved in the Miami Dadetown Election Bureau.

Always active in local politics and his northside business district, Joe was the manager of the Pastel Record & Music Co. in Oil City for over 30 years and had taught music lessons at the store.

He had also started the Pierogi Palace in Oil City and was the manager of the store at the time of his death.

Mr. Brozeski was a member of the Assumption B.V.M. Church in Oil City where he also served as choir director and church organist. He was a staunch supporter of the Church and its heritage.

He enjoyed reading, and gardening but, his passion was his Polish Heritage .

He spearheaded the Polish Heritage Project which included the Completion of the Church’s Centennial Hymnal where he oversaw the church choir’s production of 7 recordings started by his father Carl S. Brozeski and in which Joe saw completion.

Under Joe’s direction they recorded Rozaniec Do Najswietszej Maryi Panny Trzy Czesci,Polskie Koledy, Wesolego Alleluja, Krolowej Anielskiej Spiewajmy, kochajmy pana, gorzkie zale & piesni adwentowe and my chcemy boga.

The Polish Heritage Park on Spruce Street was just finished before his death and Joe saw the completion of 13 monuments placed at the park.

Mr. Brozeski was a member of the P.N.A Club in Oil City as well as the Pulaski Club.

He is survived by his mother of Oil City; 2 brothers, David G. Brozeski & his wife Ruth of Blairsville, PA., Edward P. Brozeski & his wife Cindy of Oil City, Pa. ; 3 nephews, David C. Brozeski & his wife Cindy, Brian Paul Brozeski & his wife Jayme, Adam Brozeski; Three nieces, Kasia Brozeski, Laura Brozeski Barber & Her husband Chris, Melissa Brozeski Lucci & her husband Chris, As well as many great nieces and great nephews

He is also survived by an aunt Joan Slater of Oil City and many cousins as two special friends Pat Folwell of LasVegasSam Hyrijama of New Oxford, PA and a special cousin Richard Wromble.

Friends will be received from 2-4 and from 6-8 P.M. Friday in the Reinsel Funeral Home . A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the Assumption B.V.M. Church with Fr. Justin P. Pino, Pastor, as celebrant.

Interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery.
