Joseph J. Agnello, 84, of 146 St. Charles St, Seneca, died at 9:10 am, Monday, April 1, 2013 at the Golden Living Center-Oil City.

Born November 28, 1928 in Knox, he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Josephine Morgante Agnello.

Joe graduated from Knox High School in 1946. He had been one of the first members of the White Memorial School selected for state chorus.

He attended Duke University where he played the tuba in the marching band.

Joe served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict with the 42nd Engineer Construction Battalion at Fort Richardson Alaska.

He was a partner in the Knox Fruit Company until 1970 when he became a representative of Metropolitan Life Insurance in the Oil City area. He attained Veteran Status with the company in January 1990, and retired December 1, 1991.

Joe was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he was a member of the choir, and had served on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee, the Administrative Board and as an Auditor.

He was an active computer hobbyist, avid golfer and a big fan of show music.

On July 21, 1950 he married the former Elizabeth L. Dunkle at the Knox United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2005.

Surviving are three sons, Joe Agnello and wife Karen of Cranberry Township, Jason Agnello and wife Brenda of Oil City, and Frank Agnello of Knox; five grandchildren, Jamie, Lindsay, Jeremy, Rachael and Lauren; and two sisters, Agnes Dunning of Springfield VA and Mary Wills of Lancaster.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and brother James Agnello

Friends may call at the Morrison Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 am to 2 pm.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 2 pm with the Rev. Byron K. Myers, pastor of Grace United Methodist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Knox Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Oil City Library, 2 Central Ave, Oil City PA 16301.
